Drug Name: TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL DESCRIPTION: TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE - RECTAL (try-meth-oh-BENZ-uh-mide) COMMON TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL BRAND NAME(S): Tigan, Triban TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL SIDE EFFECTS: Dizziness, drowsiness or headache may occur. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop jaundice (e.g., yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine), blurred vision, mental confusion, muscle cramps, or a skin rash. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. HOW TO USE TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL: TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL: Unwrap the suppository and insert it gently but completely into the rectum, pointed-end first. Avoid excessive handling of the suppository so that it doesn't melt before use. TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL is usually used three to four times a day. Use it exactly as prescribed. Do not increase your dose or use this drug more often than directed. TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL WARNING: Do not give children trimethobenzamide to treat vomiting when the cause of vomiting is unknown. Trimethobenzamide may contribute to the development of Reye's Syndrome, a rare but serious illness. TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL USES: TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL is used to control nausea and vomiting. TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of high fever, stomach problems, encephalitis, electrolyte imbalances (vitamin/mineral imbalances), and of any allergies you may have. Children and teenagers should not use TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL if they have chickenpox, influenza, uncomplicated vomiting or any undiagnosed illness without first consulting a doctor about Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious illness. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication makes you drowsy or dizzy. Limit alcohol intake because it will add to the dizziness or drowsiness effects of TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL. TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use, especially of narcotic pain medication (e.g., codeine), sleeping pills, tranquilizers, sedatives, barbiturates (e.g., phenobarbital) and of drowsiness- causing antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL NOTES: Do not share TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL with others.. MISSED TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up. TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE HCL STORAGE: Store suppositories at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light.
