Drug Name: TIGAN THERA-JECT TIGAN THERA-JECT DESCRIPTION: TRIMETHOBENZAMIDE - INJECTION (try-meth-oh-BENZ-uh-mide) COMMON TIGAN THERA-JECT BRAND NAME(S): Tigan TIGAN THERA-JECT SIDE EFFECTS: Diarrhea, headache, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, or muscle cramps may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you experience any of the following: unusual bleeding, depression, confusion, tremors, involuntary movements of the eyes/face/limbs, muscle spasms, rash, mouth sores; yellowing of the skin or eyes; blurred vision. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. HOW TO USE TIGAN THERA-JECT: TIGAN THERA-JECT: TIGAN THERA-JECT is used through intramuscular injection (IM). TIGAN THERA-JECT WARNING: Do not give children trimethobenzamide to treat vomiting when the cause of vomiting is unknown. Trimethobenzamide may contribute to the development of Reye's Syndrome, a rare but serious illness. TIGAN THERA-JECT USES: TIGAN THERA-JECT is used to treat nausea and vomiting. TIGAN THERA-JECT PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: high fever, stomach problems, encephalitis, electrolyte imbalances (vitamin/mineral imbalance), any allergies. Children and teenagers should not use TIGAN THERA-JECT if they have chickenpox, influenza, uncomplicated vomiting or any undiagnosed illness without first consulting a doctor about Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious illness. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs, use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving. Limit alcohol because it adds to the dizziness/drowsiness effects of trimethobenzamide. This injectable form of trimethobenzamide is not recommended for use in children. TIGAN THERA-JECT should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if TIGAN THERA-JECT is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. TIGAN THERA-JECT DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use, including: narcotic pain medication (e.g., codeine), sleeping pills, tranquilizers, sedatives, barbiturates (e.g. phenobarbital), drowsiness-causing antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. TIGAN THERA-JECT OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. TIGAN THERA-JECT NOTES: Do not allow anyone else to use TIGAN THERA-JECT. MISSED TIGAN THERA-JECT DOSE: Use any missed dose as soon as possible but not if it is almost time for the next dose. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up. TIGAN THERA-JECT STORAGE: Store at room temperature and keep away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom. |
