Drug Name: PHENYLEPHRINE GG PHENYLEPHRINE GG DESCRIPTION: GUAIFENESIN WITH PHENYLEPHRINE - ORAL (gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH fen-ill-EFF-rin) COMMON PHENYLEPHRINE GG BRAND NAME(S): Amidal, Endal, Numonyl, Quindal, Sinupan PHENYLEPHRINE GG SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nervousness, dizziness, or headache may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid heart rate, anxiety, fear; difficult or painful urination; difficulty sleeping. Because PHENYLEPHRINE GG may cause dizziness, use caution performing tasks requiring alertness and avoid consuming alcohol which can aggravate this effect. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. HOW TO USE PHENYLEPHRINE GG: PHENYLEPHRINE GG: Take PHENYLEPHRINE GG by mouth. Tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew them. If stomach upset occurs, this may be taken with food or milk. Take PHENYLEPHRINE GG as directed. Do not increase the dose or take it more often or longer than prescribed. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids (6-8 glasses a day) to help relieve congestion. PHENYLEPHRINE GG USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous and congestion. Phenylephrine is a decongestant which helps relieve nasal congestion. This combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with a cold, allergies or respiratory tract illness. PHENYLEPHRINE GG PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: pre-existing heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes mellitus, glaucoma, difficulty urinating, an enlarged prostate, history of seizures. PHENYLEPHRINE GG should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risk and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if PHENYLEPHRINE GG appears in breast milk; consult your doctor before breast-feeding. PHENYLEPHRINE GG DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, medication for depression, medication for high blood pressure. Tell your doctor if you have, in the last two weeks, taken any MAO inhibitors: furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine, linezolid. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. PHENYLEPHRINE GG OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include headache, dizziness, blurred vision, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, numbness of the fingers, vomiting, drowsiness, fatigue, or seizures. MISSED PHENYLEPHRINE GG DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. PHENYLEPHRINE GG STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight.
