MYDRIACYL Drug Information

Drug Name: MYDRIACYL

MYDRIACYL DESCRIPTION:
TROPICAMIDE - OPHTH (tro-PICK-uh-mide)

COMMON MYDRIACYL BRAND NAME(S):
Mydral, Mydriacyl, Opticyl

MYDRIACYL SIDE EFFECTS:
MYDRIACYL may temporarily sting or burn your eye for a minute when first applied. If this continues or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a few minutes after applying eye drops. Because MYDRIACYL dilates the eye, your eyes will be sensitive to light. Wear sun glasses and avoid bright lights until the effect is over. Use caution if driving or performing duties requiring clear vision. Notify your doctor if you develop a skin rash, eye pain, swelling in or around the eyes or vision problems while using this medication. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE MYDRIACYL:
MYDRIACYL: MYDRIACYL is for use in the eye. One or two drops are placed in the eye(s) 15 minutes or so prior to examination. Additional drops may be necessary to achieve the desired effect for an eye examination. When used to treat eye conditions, use as directed by your prescriber for the full course of treatment. After application of the drops, apply pressure to the side of the nose where the tear duct is with your finger for 1 to 3 minutes to prevent absorption into the body.

MYDRIACYL USES:
MYDRIACYL is used to dilate the eye for eye exams, or to treat certain eye conditions.

MYDRIACYL PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, any illnesses or allergies. MYDRIACYL should be used cautiously in the elderly. MYDRIACYL should be used with caution during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

MYDRIACYL DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including any other eye medication. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

MYDRIACYL OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed.

MYDRIACYL NOTES:
The effect of MYDRIACYL is greatest within about 30 minutes after application. It may take a few hours for the effects to totally disappear.

MISSED MYDRIACYL DOSE:
MYDRIACYL is not for routine use.
