Drug Name: MOTOFEN

MOTOFEN DESCRIPTION:
DIFENOXIN W/ATROPINE SULFATE - ORAL (dye-fen-OX-in WITH AT-trow-peen)

MOTOFEN SIDE EFFECTS:
Dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, or nausea may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. Inform your doctor if you experience any of these effects while taking MOTOFEN: abdominal pain, skin rash. Taking too much of MOTOFEN can be dangerous. Signs of overdose include dryness of the skin, nose, and mouth; flushing; fever; rapid heartbeat; rapid back-and-forth movements of the eyes; pinpoint pupils; difficulty breathing; drowsiness; and convulsions. If you or your child take an accidental overdose, call your doctor or poison control center immediately. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE MOTOFEN:
MOTOFEN: Take MOTOFEN as prescribed. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed. If diarrhea is not relieved in a few days, notify your doctor.

MOTOFEN USES:
MOTOFEN is used to relieve diarrhea.

MOTOFEN PRECAUTIONS:
Alcoholic beverages may increase the drowsiness caused by atropine and difenoxin. Atropine and difenoxin can affect certain medical conditions. Tell your doctor if you have: alcoholism, chronic lung disease, colitis, liver disease (including cirrhosis and jaundice). Before surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor that you are taking MOTOFEN. Difenoxin can be habit-forming. Stopping the medication suddenly after taking high doses or after taking it over a long time may cause withdrawal. Symptoms of withdrawal include: muscle and stomach cramps, unusual sweating, nausea and vomiting, shaking or trembling. Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding should inform their doctors. Difenoxin may pass from a mother to her baby through the milk and atropine is excreted in breast milk. Do not allow anyone else to take MOTOFEN.

MOTOFEN DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Before taking atropine and difenoxin, tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drugs you take especially: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine), narcotic cough or pain relievers, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

MOTOFEN OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include initially dryness of skin and mucous membranes, restlessness, flushing, rapid heart, followed by lethargy, coma, pinpoint pupils, and slowed breathing.

MISSED MOTOFEN DOSE:
If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

MOTOFEN STORAGE:
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom.
