METOPIRONE DESCRIPTION:
METYRAPONE - ORAL (meh-TIRR-up-own)

COMMON METOPIRONE BRAND NAME(S):
Metopirone

METOPIRONE SIDE EFFECTS:
METOPIRONE may cause nausea, stomach upset, headache, dizziness or drowsiness. If these effects persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: skin rash. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE METOPIRONE:
METOPIRONE: METOPIRONE is best taken with milk or a snack. It is important to take this as directed to assure proper test results.

METOPIRONE USES:
METOPIRONE is used to test the function of the pituitary gland.

METOPIRONE PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor if you have: pre-existing thyroid disorders, any allergies. METOPIRONE should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if METOPIRONE appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

METOPIRONE DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Some medications taken with Metyrapone may interact and alter test results. Tell your doctor of any over-the- counter or prescription medication you may take, especially: cyproheptadine, estrogen, phenytoin. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

METOPIRONE OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include fast heartbeat, severe dizziness, anxiety, confusion, weakness, vomiting, stomach pain, or diarrhea.

METOPIRONE NOTES:
As part of the test to check your pituitary function, all your urine will be collected for a 24 hour period a few days before taking METOPIRONE and the day after taking this.

MISSED METOPIRONE DOSE:
For Cushing's disease, do not double dose if missed. Take as soon as remembered but if close to the next dose, resume regular schedule. As a diagnostic, contact your doctor.

METOPIRONE STORAGE:
