Drug Name: KYTRIL KYTRIL DESCRIPTION: GRANISETRON - ORAL (gran-ISS-eh-tron) COMMON KYTRIL BRAND NAME(S): Kytril KYTRIL SIDE EFFECTS: Diarrhea, constipation, weakness, headache, fever, drowsiness, trouble sleeping, and anxiety may occur. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop a skin rash, a rapid pounding or irregular heartbeat or breathing trouble while taking this medication. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. HOW TO USE KYTRIL: KYTRIL: Granisetron is usually taken by mouth 2 times a day. The first dose may be taken up to 1 hour before chemotherapy. The second dose is usually taken 12 hours after the first dose only on the day chemotherapy is received. Or take as directed by your doctor. KYTRIL USES: KYTRIL is used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy. KYTRIL PRECAUTIONS: KYTRIL should be avoided if possible during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Tell your doctor if you have any pre-existing liver disease or any allergies. KYTRIL DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. KYTRIL OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. KYTRIL NOTES: KYTRIL is only to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy. It is not to be used for nausea and vomiting due to other causes. MISSED KYTRIL DOSE: It is important that each dose be taken prior to chemotherapy as directed. If you miss a dose, contact your doctor who will help establish a new dose schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. KYTRIL STORAGE: KYTRIL should be stored at room temperature away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. |
