Drug Name: HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR DESCRIPTION: HYDROCODONE WITH HOMATROPINE - ORAL (hi-droh-KOH-doan WITH ho-MAT-tro-peen) COMMON HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR BRAND NAME(S): Hycodan, Tussigon HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, tiredness, drowsiness, weakness, dry mouth or headache may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop a rapid heart rate, chest pain, nightmares, hallucinations, blurred vision or trouble urinating while taking HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR. Because HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR may cause drowsiness, use caution performing tasks requiring alertness. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. HOW TO USE HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR: HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR: Take HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR with food if stomach upset occurs. This is a strong cough medication and must only be used for the condition and by the person for which it is prescribed. It should not be used for just any cough. It is helpful to drink plenty of fluids (6-8 glasses a day) to help relieve cold symptoms. HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR USES: Hydrocodone is a cough medicine used to suppress a dry, hacking cough. Homatropine helps to dry up nasal and breathing passages. This combination medication is used to suppress a cough associated with a cold. HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR PRECAUTIONS: Elderly persons and those with heart problems may be more sensitive to HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR. Use it as directed. Avoid alcohol while taking HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR. HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR may make you sweat less. Do not become overheated. Avoid hot baths or saunas while taking this medication. HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Because small amounts of HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR appear in breast milk, consult with your doctor before breast-feeding. HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of medicines that may add a drowsiness effect such as antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, other narcotic pain medication (e.g., codeine), barbiturates (e.g., phenobarbital), seizure medication, muscle relaxants and cimetidine. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include slowed breathing, drowsiness, deep sleep or loss of consciousness, cold and clammy skin, dry mouth, and slow heartbeat. MISSED HYDROCODONE BT/HOMATROPINE MBR DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
