FENTANYL ORALET DESCRIPTION:
FENTANYL - ORAL LOZENGE (FEN-tuh-nill)

FENTANYL ORALET SIDE EFFECTS:
Facial itching or redness, nausea or vomiting, sweating, dizziness, drowsiness, unusual weakness or constipation might occur. If these persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Report promptly: unusually shallow or slow breathing. Unlikely but report promptly: slow heartbeat, fainting, vision problems, mental/mood changes, trouble urinating, seizures, problems with coordination. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, body itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

HOW TO USE FENTANYL ORALET:
FENTANYL ORALET: FENTANYL ORALET is used in the mouth as directed. The outer wrappings are removed by the health care provider, and the lozenge is placed in the mouth about 30 minutes before the procedure. The lozenge is sucked, not chewed. The dosage is based on medical condition, desired effect and age. If the full effect has been obtained, or excessive side effects occur, then the lozenge should be removed from the mouth. Long-term or excessive use of FENTANYL ORALET can cause dependency (or craving for FENTANYL ORALET). After a period of time, FENTANYL ORALET may not work as well. Consult your doctor or pharmacist. This product is not recommended for use in the home or other non-hospital areas.

FENTANYL ORALET WARNING:
Because severe, even fatal breathing problems have occurred during fentanyl use, it should be used only for anesthesia before a diagnostic test or surgery. You will be closely monitored in a hospital setting (e.g., emergency room) for breathing ability until you recover from use of FENTANYL ORALET. Report immediately unusually slow or shallow breathing. Do not use FENTANYL ORALET for short- or long-term pain control. Children that weigh less than 22 pounds (10 kilograms) are not to use FENTANYL ORALET. Do not use more than prescribed by your doctor. The maximum dose any child or adult should receive is 400mcg, regardless of weight.

FENTANYL ORALET USES:
FENTANYL ORALET is a narcotic pain reliever which also relieves anxiety and causes drowsiness. FENTANYL ORALET is used in surgery and during medical procedures. FENTANYL ORALET is not indicated for use in general pain control.

FENTANYL ORALET PRECAUTIONS:
Before using FENTANYL ORALET, tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies (especially drug allergies), head injury or brain disorders, heart or lung problems, kidney or liver disease, enlarged prostate, intestinal diseases (e.g., colitis), low thyroid function, a drug dependency, alcoholism, recent abdominal surgery. To avoid dizziness or lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Alcohol may add to the side effects of FENTANYL ORALET, causing drowsiness or dizziness. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about the use of alcohol. Caution if performing tasks requiring alertness (e.g., driving) as FENTANYL ORALET may cause drowsiness or dizziness. FENTANYL ORALET should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Fentanyl passes into breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Therefore, do not breast-feed without first consulting your doctor. This product is not recommended in children weighing less than 15 kilograms (33 pounds). Caution is advised if this product is used in the elderly.

FENTANYL ORALET DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially of other drugs that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep, tranquilizers and other psychiatric medicines (e.g., MAO inhibitors such as phenelzine, selegiline, furazolidone, moclobemide), anti-seizure drugs, muscle relaxants, certain antihistamines (e.g., diphenhydramine), other narcotic pain relievers (e.g., codeine). Also report use of: procarbazine, "water pills" (diuretics), blood pressure medicines, cimetidine. FENTANYL ORALET may interfere with certain laboratory tests (amylase and lipase). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

FENTANYL ORALET OVERDOSE:
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

FENTANYL ORALET NOTES:
Do not share FENTANYL ORALET with others. Personal monitoring by a health care professional, along with breathing function tests are performed with FENTANYL ORALET.

MISSED FENTANYL ORALET DOSE:
Not applicable. FENTANYL ORALET is given by a health professional.

FENTANYL ORALET STORAGE:
Store at room temperature at or below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Protect from freezing.
