Drug Name: ERYGEL ERYGEL DESCRIPTION: ERYTHROMYCIN BASE - TOPICAL GEL (eh-rith-row-MY-sin) COMMON ERYGEL BRAND NAME(S): A/T/S, Emgel, Erygel ERYGEL SIDE EFFECTS: ERYGEL may cause burning, redness, peeling, flaking or dry skin especially the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these symptoms continue, become worse or you develop a skin rash, notify your doctor. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. HOW TO USE ERYGEL: ERYGEL: ERYGEL is for topical use only. Clean and dry the affected area as directed. Then apply a small amount of the medication on the skin. A thin layer is all that is needed. Do not use large amounts, apply this more often or use this for a longer period than directed. Your condition will not clear faster, but the chance for side effects may be increased. Avoid contact with the eyes or inside the nose and mouth. ERYGEL USES: ERYGEL is an antibiotic used on the skin to control acne. It contains a large amount of alcohol, which aids in drying excess oils from the skin. ERYGEL PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: previous illnesses or infections, any allergies (especially to other antibiotics). ERYGEL should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if ERYGEL is found in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. ERYGEL DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: skin products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. ERYGEL OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallowed. ERYGEL NOTES: For optimal results, ERYGEL is often used as part of a total skin care regimen. MISSED ERYGEL DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. ERYGEL STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) away from heat.
