Drug Name: BONINE BONINE DESCRIPTION: MECLIZINE, CYCLIZINE - ORAL (MECK-lih-zeen, SYE-klih-zeen) COMMON BONINE BRAND NAME(S): Antivert, Bonine, Dramamine II, Marezine BONINE SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, blurred vision, stomach upset, headache or dry mouth. These effects should subside as your body adjusts to the medication. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Since BONINE may cause drowsiness, use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. HOW TO USE BONINE: BONINE: For motion sickness, take the first dose 30 minutes before traveling. For other conditions, take exactly as directed by your doctor. Chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly before swallowing. BONINE USES: BONINE is used to prevent or treat nausea, vomiting and dizziness caused by motion sickness or middle ear infections. BONINE PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of glaucoma, prostate problems, urinary problems, asthma and of any allergies you may have. Alcohol may intensify the drowsiness effect of BONINE. Limit alcohol intake and use caution performing tasks that require alertness such as driving and operating machinery. Do not give meclizine to a child under 12 years of age without a doctor's permission. Before using BONINE, inform your doctor if you are pregnant. It is not known if BONINE is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. BONINE DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of drugs that have a drowsiness effect such as medications for cough, colds and allergies; drugs used for sleep, seizure medications, narcotic pain drugs (e.g., codeine), barbiturates (e.g., phenobarbital) and tranquilizers. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. BONINE OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include unusual excitability, drowsiness, hallucinations, very slow or shallow breathing, and seizures. BONINE NOTES: Do not share BONINE with others. MISSED BONINE DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. BONINE STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. |
